Activities
Pershing Elementary offers a variety of activities for students before and after school. Below are some of the programs frequently offered each year:
- Little Engineers
- Firefly Art
- Mad Science
- Choir (Grades 4 - 6)
- Band (Grades 5 - 6)
Panther Post
Pershing Elementary also offers some unique experiences for all students! During the year our 6th grade students coordinate the "Panther Post," a mail system where students and staff across the school write letters in the traditional fashion. The "Panther Post" inspires a real sense of community and connects us to one another in a different way. Students and staff both take this opportunity to connect with one another and show appreciation.
Accelerated Reader Teams
Pershing students in grades 2 - 6 are placed in mixed teams with teachers and students across the school and read together every other Friday towards the end of the day in our "A.R. Teams." The teams set reading goals and celebrate reaching those goals together! It is another way that we bring our school community together.Art DocentThrough the PTO, our students benefit from parent volunteers who are trained as Art Docents. Our Art Docents share information about an artist and then lead students through a simple art activity to help expand our knowledge of art. Our students love this special time with parent volunteers. Please contact our PTO to sign up as an Art Docent. We can always use more volunteers!
Panther Pacers
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, our students run at morning recess and track their laps. Students who rack up the most laps for their class win the Panther Pacers Trophy! Parent volunteers help students to track laps and help hand out the charms that students earn as they reach different "mile"-stones! Please let our PTO know if you have availability to volunteer on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9:15a.m. - 10:45a.m.
